Cold Weather Causing Shoulder Tension?

deep core Nov 07, 2019

As the weather gets colder and colder, we tend to shrug our shoulders up to our ears to try and stay warm! While you may think this is helping, it’s actually shutting off blood flow through your body and causing a lot of dysfunction.

When you do the “winter shoulder shrug dance”, you are actually creating a LOT of tension in your neck. Your body also tends to lean forward which puts additional stress on your low back.

Instead, try standing tall while lightly engaging your pelvic floor, zipping up through your deep core, lengthening tall through the top of your head and just letting your shoulders just hang. This opens up the body and allows for optimal blood flow to help keep you warm while relieving tension in your neck + low back!!!
