Why Perfectionism Is Holding You Back

overcoming perfectionism

Inside of our private Core Rehab Facebook group, I notice a common theme that gets brought up in conversation: If it can’t be done at 100% perfect then it won’t get done.

There are different versions of this same story like:

  • “I don't have an hour to workout so I'm not doing it” or
  • “If I'm not sweating then it's not worth my time” or
  • “I'll start on Monday when I'm more focused.”

But what do I mean by PERFECTIONISM when it comes to your movement practice? Here's my take on it...Perfection stems from fear, and this fear is normally fear of failure.

>>Failure to burn enough calories, failure to lose weight or failure to be good enough.<<

Now, I'm not one to talk about weight loss, but it’s something that's on many women's minds when it comes to getting their body back after having a baby. But what if that's what's holding you back from really doing something amazing for your body?

The fact is there’s no such thing as a perfect movement practice, so the sooner you acknowledge this truth, the quicker you will be able to give yourself grace and be in a position to learn how to work with your life and your body.

We are constantly working to better ourselves...heck I'm not the same core exercise specialist I was 10 years ago! But by doing a little bit to better ourselves today will get us that much closer to achieving our goals than not doing anything at all.

>>It's time to do what you can with where you are right now. It may not be perfect, but it's going to be freaking amazing!<<
