• 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 sweet onion, sliced
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 2 sweet potatoes, cubed
  • 1/2 lb asparagus, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 tsp turmeric 
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Items:

  • Option 1: Add 1/4 - 1/2 lb precooked bacon, cubed for some additional protein and flavor
  • Option 2: Add 1 tsp of cayenne pepper for a little spice


  1. On medium heat, saute the butter, onion and garlic together for 5 minutes
  2. Add the sweet potatoes, turmeric, salt, pepper
    1. Add cayenne pepper and/or bacon if you choose
  3. Cover and let simmer for 10 minutes
  4. Add asparagus and cover
  5. Let simmer until asparagus becomes soft
